Not exactly sure what you mean here but if you can take the belt off the compressor a spin to see if it's hanging up, the bearing might be bad. Sometimes when the compressor starts to fail they will sound like a rattle or clank. Other thoughts are that the magnetic clutch is grabbing or is worn. Sometimes depending on it's accessibility the compressor clutch can be replaced without taking out of the car. In your case FWD they are tough to get to unfortunately. In the meantime you might want to get some gauges and make sure your freon levels are up to par. Good Luck!
