Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a coolant leak but it looks like its
coming from the belt tensioner in my 1998
Chevy cavalier is this a sign of a cracked
head

Fluid does not come from a tensioner. A tensioner is just a type of "spring loaded" mechanical mechanism to hold tension on the belt. Check your oil. If the oil has a milky, or greenish milky appearance it means you have water in your oil, which would indicate a cracked head, or leaky gasket.

Oil looks good is not milky looking but could this also be the water pump
