Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I'm being quoted $1550 to do the following on an '09 Outback....
Right side Axle replacement: $250
Lower control arms : $870
Rear Brakes and Flush $420 (the car was shaking at 60mph+ so we thought a simple rebalancing was needed).

Costs are standard for Subaru, about 2x compared to typical Asian counterparts, some what of a novelty vehicle parts are more..Still fair pricing. Regards
Like he said, $1500 is not a lot of money in the car repair world- but it is to me- I really question the need to replace control arms- sounds suspicious to me- take it to another shop and get a second opinion- maybe a front end shop?
