2012 Ford Focus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Okay need a little help. 2012 Ford Focus drives fine
most of the time. However when I stop at lights or
break sometimes my engine shuts off and car dies.
It always starts right back up for now anyway.
However this won’t happen for a month and than it
could happen 3 times in an hour. Have not
experienced this before and any help would
certainly be appreciated getting a better idea what
the issue is. Thanks

Not much information to go on... Has the check engine light come on at any time? I would recommend having the codes read from the computer to see if any of the sensors are failing. Most AutoZone and Advanced Auto Parts will check the codes for free and at least give you some idea of the problem.
Hey Gary sorry as not much info to give. No light comes on except red battery light saying car is dead. Then it starts right back up and no issues until it does it again which could be a month later or a week later.
I actually brought it into Ford a few months ago and they told me it was a dented gas tank that was throwing it off. They told me it would cost me over 2000 to repair and went worth it. Where did you hear about this recall and would be great to find out more about it as still having the issue.
Your problem sounds just like mine.... it was the TCM part that is on recall that neededto be changed. My dealership did not want to replace it because it wasn’t showing a code. I push the issue for them to do it because it had already been in the shop three times. It’s running fine now but i had to push to get them to do it!!
Mine Ford Focus did the same thing and I had a recall on my fuel tank! Got it fixed and hasn’t given me any problems!
