Asked by Donna_1968 Feb 19, 2017 at 09:07 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck was running in park. I got out to open garage door
and while I was opening the door, maybe we minutes, it
jumped out of park and into drive and came at me. What
would cause it to do that?

Definitely wasn't fully engaged in park. If you are absolutely certain it was, and can reproduce the error, your shifter might need to be adjusted... but 99.9% of the time, it was just user error.

Haven't you seen the movie "Maximum Overdrive?" Or "Killdozer?" "Christine?" I bet your car has.
