My radio went out I was told I need a code what
else can I do . Dealership wants to charge a arm
and leg .

Are you the original owner? Do you have the documentation that came with the car when new? The dealer is charging you for using a code scanner to retrieve the code, whereas you may have the code printed in your sales paperwork.
