73 Nova transmission is giving me problems

I have a B&M z gate shifter and it doesnt seem to go into D. Its seems like it
only stays in a low gear. when i drive, i have to mess with it to get it in a D
position. Any help?

Unfortunately no, I do not know. It could be a linkage issue. I replaced the shifter and linkage today, a long with the cable. It still doesnt seem right. When I take off, it seems like its in low gear. I have to mess with it on the fly to get it to where it seems to be in D.

Did you have issues before the shifter swap? I had a 73 GM that I lost drive and only had 1st gear. Turned out the torque convertor and bands wear burnt up and I had to get a rebuild.
