Have a 1973 nova with 307. 1 owner, show car. Driven 18,000 miles then put up. Has sat, in dark, covered and we finally pulled out to get going again. When cranked, it blew oil filter off.

Is there a question? A car that old, that has been sitting for a while has to be gone through before it is safe to drive- or even to start-

but its common to remove the bypass and plug it so all the oil will go thru the oil filter.also there are 3 lenghts of oil filters that are made for the sbc in those years, short, med and the long 2 qt AC Delco PF932.. if you have room run the biggest one you can..
