08 Ford Ranger won't start . Won't even make noise . Good battery , new starter even took starter back off and had checked . Changed starter because I could tap it with hammer and start not now

First thing is , why did tapping help ? The part? or its connection to the battery, or its connection to the start motor section of the starter. If a "new" starter bench tests good, then you put it in and it wont crank, back to recheck tests and tap. That must be a reman part, right? You have over 12v in the battery. The battery cable connections are clean and tight at both ends, yes? and then there are 12v supplied to the start enable wire during cranking. next question, is there a starter relay between the battery and the solenoid ? It may need tapping to get the diagnosis. I know the f150's had them.

Are there 3 wires from the positive cable clamp at the battery post ? some of those cables are not connected well internally but crimped in the lead clamp. The sweating about the battery post can lead to an arc inside the cable you cannot see, eventually becoming an insulated condition. Sorry for sounding too technical. There were recalls in previous year models for battery, box, and cable issues of that type. Putting a new end on there and individually adding bolt-on connections to the two smaller wires can be the cheap remedy.
