Question type: Maintenance & Repair

so when i shut my truck off the motor keeps running for about 2 seconds. its not like your typicall engine dieseling over, it runs fine revs fine with the key off in this short period of time, its more like the ignition switch is slow disconnecting or something, it doesn't seem to be timing so far, i'm hoping it might be a sticky switch, that would be nice, plan on putting in a tilt column. any help would be nice.

depending on what engine and carbeuretor are in it, some of the early to mid '80's chev trucks had an anti-dieseling solenoid in the factory quadrajet carb. i own an '85 chev 3/4 ton and have come across this problem.

that is what they call "run-on" u are having a vacuum problem within ur carbureator....start ur engine and spray carb cleaner all around it and u will find the leak...make sure all vacuum hoses and breather hoses are hooked up correctly
