i have a 2006 ponic gran am i have a power stearing leak- the dude at 1 shop said it is the bracket thats bad- what dose this mean

I will agree its very important to have this fixed by someone who knows what they are doing after 20 years wrenching on cars I've never seen a bracket leak lol.
well this dude is a mechanic but he was telling me it gona cost @ 1000.00 to get fixed, i am going to put the car on a rack and see where the leak is coming from.
Two things - your car is not a 2006. The last year was 2005. You do not have a leak in the bracket. You have a leak in the rack. It is the mechanism that turns the wheels. Call around to see if you can get another shop to replace it with a used rack. I don't know how much a new rack is. Find the price on www.RockAuto.com. It's not a easy DIY job and you will need an alignment. Let a shop do it.
