Brake light indicator

Asked by Calicrew_00 Oct 02, 2007 at 05:23 PM about the 2004 Ford Escape

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On my 2004 escape the brake light indicator remains illuminated after disengaging the hand brake, but it will go off when driving at a incline or decline. Does anyone have any ideas on what may cause this faulty indication?

Sounds like a problem with the low fluid level sensor (which can allow the brake light to stay on) or else with the pedal switch which controls the light when the handbrake is released. Have this diagnosed by a mechanic. You may have a problem with your braking system which is nothing to mess around with.
