1977 z center console HOT!

I have a 1977 Datsun 280Z I have only had it during
the summer months when driving around town all
the gauges work correctly car is running smoothly
but the interior center console emits a lot of heat is
this normal and if so how can you block some of
this heat it seems the air conditioner has a hard
time keeping up because of it thanks for your time

Check the heat shield over the muffler or cat (if it has one). If the heat shield is missing, heat from the exhaust is finding its way into the car via the shifter hole. (I doubt you'll find one from a scrap yard but you never know). If it's not the lack of a heat shield, you may have an overheating piece of electronics in the console (not familiar with your car).

That model has an exhaust pipe mounting bracket attached to the bottom of the transmission. The trans gets hot from that and thus heats up the shifter and the console. Put heat block material above the trans and below the boot. Attempt to mount exhaust bracket elsewhere.
