I have not seen anything on the internet about the engines going out, but I will tell you that there are a lot of posts on edmunds.com about the transmissions going out! Mine went at 75,000. There are others that went at fewer miles. I'm glad I decided to purchase an extended warranty!

My 4.2 is purring like a kitten. I am performing a 100,000 maintenance today and fully expect to drive it several years more before retiring her to someone else. I'm a believer in 5-10,000 oil change intervals and repair/replace that which needs it. In the long run much cheaper than the 25-35,000/350/month payments in my book. Others will disagree but that's okay.
