how do i replace the voltage regulator in my dautsun 280z 1977 the fuseable link keeps melting is there a way to get rid of the voltage regulator period

No you need the voltage regulator. Alternator puts out like 45 to 60 amp. and without the regulator everything would just fry and burn up. Yours may have an external voltage regulator which would be mounted on the fender wall, like 2.25 X 2.25 square box. But some have the regulator in the alternator. Just stop at a shop and have it checked out.

The best thing to do is replace your alternator with a internal voltage regulated alternator and bypass the external. I tried replacing mine with an after market and it blue all my instrument and lights. Don't trust the external regulators.
I removed the external and the wire fuses links and replaced with proper fuse holders.
