Carburetor issues on a 1965 Spitfire

Asked by Shibby03 Apr 14, 2016 at 03:20 PM about the 1965 Triumph Spitfire

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I recently replaced the starter solenoid and coil
pack on it and ran fine for 3 miles and then had a
ton of carburetor issues where it seems like it's not
getting enough fuel so I replace the fuel pump fuel
lines clean the carburetors made sure the floats
weren't sticking... when it starts it idles at around
900 for about 3 minutes and then just slowly dies
and then when you drive it the first thru second
gear is fine but once you get into 3rd gear and it
seems like it's togging forward. I have tried
replacing the parts back to stock and it did not
help. All of these problems started to happen when
I let it idles for 20mins and tried to drive it

I mean it's probably stock if the same tires are on it from when it rolled out of the dealer

These cars where not designed to run on Ethanol fuel.. Fuel management is very Important.. Fuel lines, gaskets, floats, pumps, Jets..
