Looking into buying a 71 javelin from a guy a few towns over. Says it runs, but
looks like it needs some restoration. What would be a good price value?

Classic car values are all over the map. Try Hemmings.com or NADA classic car guides (nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/Manufacturers) just remember prices get really subjective the further they stray from stock.

Ahh, the Javelin... I own six of them right now (not joking). The value has always historically been lower than GM, Ford, or Dodge cars of similar style and condition. That being said, the Javelins are steadily gaining value due to their increasing rarity. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty "humpsters" built from 1971-74, but many have been sent to the crusher when the scrap price was high. A nearly perfect one not too many years ago would only fetch about $6k vs. a comparable Camaro worth $10k. Nowadays, I suppose the difference would only be around $1k undervalued.
