I love driving this wonderful car but why does it use SO much gas?

Might need a tune up. If you have the 289 V-8 you can expect to get 16 mpg. The 200 six cylinder should get 20 mpg. Remember those older cars needed leaded gas to protect the valves so don't forget the fuel additive.

Be sure to check for vacuum leaks. It can be well worth the time and effort to replace old vacuum hoses. Also, does the carb need to be rebuilt? Over the years (I'm 62), I have found that old cars tend to get numerous vacuum leaks as seals and hoses deteriorate. That will kill an otherwise good vehicle from operating correctly....Good Luck! :-)
