I want to do a motor switch on a 1989 4x4 toyota pickup

I have an 89 4x4 toyota pickup I was
thinking about buying a 1992 4x4 toyota
pickup ext cab and putting my motor in it
its a automatic v6 mines a 5 speed  with a
22r in my motor and trans are great but the
other truck needs s motor I wanna do a
swap and I'm wonderin what all I need to
do and is it a good idea this other truck is a
great deal and I don't have a bunch of
money and I want to know if it would work
alright

From scanning Ebay engines, I believe the 85-95 engines should all be compatible for the 22RE engines. If the '92 has a 4 cylinder engine, you will probably run into a difference in motor mounts. You will also have to swap computers and wiring harnesses. For more in depth info, you may want to get on Toyota Nation and ask those guys. They are all into engine swaps. I usually stick to the same year. Makes life easier. Good luck!
