not sure what your working on but no positive never grounds unless you are attaching batteries in series. but if you are using one positive and one ground then red is positive and black is ground. positive is the power feed direct to the unit being powered and black is the ground and if there is a white it is usually a neutral wire which then is also used like a ground.
it is a 78 mg b does the positive post to ground strap.?????
no it does not go to positive ,please never ground a positive wire it can cause harm to you and what you are working on
The 1978 MG-B is negative ground All the MG-A series and before were positive ground. They also had two 6 volt batteries. Most all English cars of the 50-60's were positive ground.
I just got a 1975 MGB GT and I believe the + is the ground. I also have a shop manual that goes up the 1974 models and the diagram shows a + ground.
You're probably looking at the wrong diagram. You car is negative ground. CR

It's negative ground. I owned one and they're all the same.
