Not a difficult job at all but should be handled by an experienced mechanic because of the live wiring associated. Usually it's an hour labor to check it and change it out. Of course, downtime will include how many customers are ahead of you. A new starter is recommended but a re manufactured one generally works well and is cheaper. Better warranty on the new one. Starters run from $139 to $250 plus labor.
