Erratic cranking and backfire during start attempt

Asked by Mark Nov 06, 2016 at 10:19 PM about the 1984 Buick Grand National

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a GN 1984 where the wiring harness
was completely cut going to the module.
The wiring has been finally sorted out but
has a very erratic crank like over advanced
ignition timing. Cam sensor is synced
properly. Balancer appears to be OK not
cracked. New module also in place. Firing
order etc OK as well. Thanks for any help!

Sound like the timing is off....check it with a timing light and you may have crossed some wires or there are other problems

I had a problem like this in my 85 and found out that the wires to my fuel injection have been burned or if they're short and had to be rewired and stopped all the problems and it actually happened after I had washed the car and the temperature had went down low and when I started it again I had the problem
