how do I clear abs and traction control lights on dash of 2008 Mercury
Mountaineer?

Scan for codes which will probably indicate one of the four ABS sensors is unplugged or broken....one at each wheel. Without that signal, the traction control and ABS can't work. After fixing it, you can clear the code with a scanner or disconnect the battery a while. May times they get dirty or corroded connections when they act up. They're 20 years old.
