1275cc was the biggest stock engine the MG metro (mini predecessor) came with a 1300 the 1275 had 73hp stock

era turbo was a 1.3 with a turbo bout a 100bhp but you can get a turbo from a mg metro but you have to modify engine bay

MG Metro is NOT the Mini's predecessor.1275cc was the biggest engine put in the Mini at the factory from '59-'00. The MG Metro had a slightly tweaked 1275cc A+ series.

look up honda crate motors online or go to your local salvage yard or pick a part and pull it out yourself, but remember to check the milage if you can and make sure the oil doesnt look like chocolate milk

you hear of people managing to fit rover v8's in them but dunno how they manage it!! might get an old scrapper and try it before putting a lump like that in mine...

Does anyone know if you can put a chevy v8 into a 1980-1986 mini mayfair? If so, how modifying do you need to do in order to make that happen. And if that will not fit, what is the biggest most powerful engine you can put in one?

anything more than 150 horses in a mini makes the car too undrivable. watch the minis with the honda type r's with turbo and see how fast they are sold after being bought. a type r is way too much torque and horsepower for a little car like that. but i have seen v8s in mgb's and those seem still pretty squirelly.

well i was planning on fixing everything in the suspension and everything else so that it could handle that kind of power. do you need a new frame, or what kind of modifying i am looking at or where i could read up on it? thanks.

basically you would need to rebuild the while frame as a space frame. it would work better to have then engine closer to the middle or in the rear of the car. the stiffer and stronger you can make this the better. all of this is going to have to be custom i have no idea where plans to build this kinda stuff would be is. check http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/ in the forum section. it may take a while to find something though

is there another 4 cylinder that has stupid amount of power that wouldn't need to modify the frame? even a v6?

you can build up a 1275 to a 1430 and put it to race specs but them your still only looking at 130 to 150 horses at most. anything you put in there over 100 horsepower you need to stiffen everything up anyway. too much power( over 120hp and 150lbs torque) in a mini makes it torque steer like crazy and not fun to drive. just put a fast road cam in a 1275 and port the head, that will be plently of power for not much money

if you build it yourself it should be around 3500 bucks if your lucky but you could just as easily spend over 6000

I have another question. I was thinking about getting a honda vtec motor and putting it in there. I know it reqs a new subframe. Does anyone know which honda motor and which subframe i need for the car? Thank you for the help.

i would go for the b series honda motors for availability of parts ease of repair and a more manageable driving car...minimania sells everything you need but heritage garage know what there doing im not sure if they have vtec parts though try these http://vtec.minimania.com/ and http://heritagegarage.com/

i've got problem with my Mini , production year 1995 , the engine stops in the middle of the drive, and i have difficulty starting the engine. Could someone help?
