My battery in my 2003 Taurus died, I think. Car wouldn't start. I replaced the battery now it still won't start or click. All electric works, just won't even try to start. Exclamation point on dash.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
To begin, the car had an old battery. 11/06. The terminals corroded badly and the car
quit starting. It would jump off then that too quit working. I replaced the cable terminals
and the battery, now the car still won't start. It doesn't even click like it's trying to start.
There's a new light on the dash I've never seen before, an exclamation point in a circle.
There's a factor theft system in the car. I need to know why this car won't start. Any
help is appreciated.

That is a (bad battery) light. When you turn the key on is the antitheft light flashing?

Yessir. But the theft light always flashes before I start the engine. The car also has a light shaped like a battery.

Is there a chance that disconnecting the battery triggered the kill engine switch or something?
It should flash and then stop flashing. The light on the dash is a bad battery light. If you turn the key on and it keeps flashing you have triggered the antitheft and needs reset.
hold on and I will get the steps
Unhook the battery for 10 minutes then use your key to unlock the drivers door. Turn left then right. This should reset the system.

Thanks, man. I will give this a try. I googled how to reset it and nothing I found said to unhook the battery for any length of time. That makes good sense. I appreciate your helpfulness.
sounds like you have a bad alternator and battery with some bad cables... just my 2 cents

Try this, turn the key to the on position, open the drivers side door, wait 10 minutes, close the door, turn the key to offf position, then start car.
the above answer worked except the lock position is to the right so Unhook the battery for 10 minutes then use your key to unlock the drivers door. Turn right then left .This should reset the system. this worked 07 taurus
