Gas mileage for a 1973 ford ranchero with a 429?

Asked by Cody Jan 01, 2017 at 01:09 AM about the 1973 Ford Ranchero

Question type: General

I currently have a 73 ranchero 500 with a 429. I
honestly don't know what my mileage is since I'm
still trying to get it on the road but I haven't found
anything about it on any forums, usually just on gts
and 351 clevelands. I'm told I'll be lucky if i get
around 10 MAX. Any thoughts about this and any
thoughts about how I can improve mileage? Also
the engine is stock except for the edelbrock 460
intake manifold, and the 750 cfm Holley double
pumper.

Put a high gear ratio third member in it and you should be able to get better than 10 on the highway. Also install a high energy after market ignition system and maybe a Quadrajet carb.
