Was something possibly left on in the vehicle to drain the battery?

Nothing. I always turn the lights off and I don't use the radio alot since I am not familiar with it yet. Just got it 3 months ago.
I would check the battery terminals. Make sure they are tight and are clean of corrosion. If you have access to a charger, I would put a good charge on the battery and see if it takes a charge. You can also pull the battery and have it load tested at any auto parts store.
Yes, the first answer is "Right on"! In 33 years I have inadvertently left the interior dome light on 2 times in my '81 T-Bird. That's why I own a charger. Be careful when you push in/off the light switch that you don't rotate it.
I have a 2003 T-Bird. Love the car but it has turned out to be pretty high maintenance. If I don't drive it for 2-3 days, the battery drains and needs to be jumped. Suspecting a short in the system, I spent several thousand dollars sending my mechanic on a wild goose chase looking for it. He couldn't find anything, so I took it to the a Ford dealer service center. When I told the mechanic there about the problem, he said, "Oh, yeah — they do that." So don't let the car go more than a couple of days without starting it, and consider investing in some kind of trickle charger.
