1959 F100 engine swap

Asked by Peepaw1996 Apr 30, 2020 at 11:46 PM about the 1959 Ford F-100

Question type: General

I have a 1959 F100 with a very worn out inline 6. I
want to put a new engine in with a little more
power. Consequently I have a 2002 ford ranger
with a totaled body but a very well running 4.0 v6.
Would it be possible to swap this engine into the
59' relatively easily? I'd like to use the stock 3
speed manual but wouldnt mind using the rangers
automatic transmission too. How feasable is this?

The SOHC 4.0 is not a good motor. I would pick something else. Perhaps a period correct 292 or a 289/302. You will have to do research as to bolting up to your old 3 speed.
