Gas in the oil

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have 79 f100 with a 302. I just put a
new Holley manuel choke carb on it
but its the 3rd carb from the parts
store and the truck is still having a
hard time starting. When it does its
not idling right. I've noticed I have
gas mixed the oil. I think its the
manuel fuel pump. Could be the be
putting gas into the oil and could this
be causing it not to run right? I need
help figuring this out as this truck is
my baby. Thank you.

Your needle and seat are not adjusted properly and are "dumpin' the gas" you should have noticed this right away...I won't tell~

Well thanks for not telling but this is the 3rd carb that is pre set and it works for a few minutes then shuts off. I have to work with the choke and the throttle to get it to start but it doesn't run right. If the carb is not set right why would it start when I put it on then not work now?

Its possible for the fuel pump to leak into the crankcase, but if your putting performance carbs on rather than replacement carbs they come jetted really rich, are your spark plug tips black? Also make sure your choke is fully open when the choke knob is in
