Transmission Issues

I have a manual tranny. After driving for approx. 45 minutes to an hour I have a hard time shifting into 2nd gear from a dead stop at a red light etc. When I first drive it, it shifts normally into 2nd gear smoothly , no problem. When the issue starts the only way I can get it to shift into 2nd is to have the engine at a higher RPM and basically do a speed shift.
Any idea what it could be?

It could be the syncros are going bad, when was the last time the tranny was serviced?

Two things that should help. First, change the brake fluid in the master for the clutch every 500 miles for about 1500 miles as this will help to clean crud out of the slave cylinder. Second, try Royal Purple Synchromax in your tranny.

Thanks Michael. I am not sure on the tranny service it only has 23k mile on it. Also I just bought the car and there is no record of tranny service with the maintenance. I will take your advice on master .
