1977 fiat 124 spider

Asked by Fiatguy124 Dec 31, 2016 at 10:06 AM about the 1977 FIAT 124 Spider

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my car and I heard a hissing sound
and the next thing I knew the cabin was filled with
smoke and I could smell, and taste, that it was
heated coolant that turned into a gas. I followed the
trail and it is coming from the passenger side up
under the dash where all the wires are coming from.
I really need this answer ASAP and I don't know
what could be happening

in most cars the heater core is located on the right/passenager side, you could by pass and test this by connecting the two hoses together and see if this solves the problem, also you would have coolant down under the carpet and yes it makes a mess... Those are great cars. loved the one I had...

Heater core or heater hose is bad. Most likely it is the heater core.
