Mitsubishi timing help, really stuck!! Mitsubishi L300 4WD.

Hello, my partner has done lots of work on our Mitsubishi L300 express 4WD, with 2.0
GH Sigma Engine. He has changed everything major i.e Head gasket, water pump,
distributor etc. As well as servicing so fuel filter, oil filter, coolant etc. We know that we
need to get the timing correct and have been trying many times but it just turns over
but will not start. I have read that you need the engine to be warm to do this, but
obviously if we can't get the engine to start then this isn't possible. Does anyone know
of a brilliant step by step, almost fool-proof way to get your timing correct?!? Please,
please help us we would be very grateful!

don't how much u know about what your doing so the best thing to do is go and get a gregory's workshop manual im still looking for the 4x4 one there hard to get but any old sigma or l300 (no 213) will walk u though it ... tip take out num1 spark plug and block the whole with a ball of wet toilet paper turn engine over by hand (19mm socket on crank) when the paper pops out your on compression stroke bring the timing mark on crank pulley to TDC mark on timing case then you need to position the distributor so that the rotor button is in line with num1 position on cup (just past the bottom clip on 4g63) it mite take a couple of goes. but honestly there could be any number of problems do u have spark ? firing order? so get a manual
