rear differential problems?

What type and frequency of rear end differential problems were experienced on the 2002 Ford Explorer? Thanks.

Hi Bill, There are no reports of any major problems by Explorer drivers, or Ford, regarding the rear differential on the 2002 Explorer. There are some sporadic reports or fluid leaking but that can be solved by simply resealing the surface with silicon.

Are you serious? Just Google "2002 Ford Explorer differential problems" and you will find a lot of posts!!!!

when you put it in gear there will be a "thunk" that you can definitely feel, and yes, there have been a fair amount of problems with those- the fix is typically 500-600.
