Cadalliac Over Heating

Asked by Jennifer Oct 30, 2018 at 06:16 AM about the 2001 Cadillac DeVille

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay read all of the post about Northstar Motors
overheating and blown head gaskets and
everything else about this car. I have a 2001
Cadillac Deville and it is running hot. I have
completely removed the thermostat. I had a crack
in my radiator that I fixed and now the water boiling
hot and bubbling out the reservoir. The one black
hose on the top is so hot I can't touch it. Could
there be a clog in the line somewhere and if so
how do I find it?  Have never ran it hot so I hope I
can find an easier solution than head gaskets. I
need all the help I can get I'm a single parent the
car was given to me to help me out and I don't have
any money to pay mechanic. Any help would be
appreciated.

Try bleeding air from system like this remove cap from overflow tank fill with antifreeze to full mark leave cap off and start vehicle and let idle you will notice level in tank start to rise this is normal once thermostat starts to open level in tank will drop add more antifreeze to full mark then put cap back on.

Put the thermostat back in first, it needs to be there. Are the cooling fans running?

The fans are working... Tore it down again today. Found patch on the radiator didn't stick so I put another one on stronger. My problem now is that there's no water going to the motor. It's like something is blocking it so im going to flush system tomorrow and see if that helps. That's not it im out of options. I've never ran it hot so it just can't be the head gaskets.
