Have you tried turning key back on, take car out of park then place car back in park. Then turn key to off position and try again to remove it.

Thank you for your responses, I really appreciate them. When it's light outside, I'll check the battery and taking the car out of park. And I'll let you know how it went!

Well! It turns out it was the battery that had gone bad. Apparently, the battery was the original factory batter and it lasted until last week! The new batter was the largest GM makes for the Caddy and, of course, it was expensive, but not as expensive as a new ssecurity system. Again, thank you all for your input; you are all appreciated very, very much!
