Why does my car die after idol or driving

My car will start but only idle for five mins or
so then die or drive about five miles then
die. Either way  won't start again until after
waiting thirty minutes or so. And repeats
sequence over every time. Also there is a
grey relay box under the steering wheel left
hand side that gets really warm almost hot.
Could this be my problem?

No I haven't tried any codes . What do you mean about what the relay is driving? I know it controls the trunk and the key gets stuck sometimes. Its a relay box that disconnects from a plug that goes to a out 15 colored wires. Also I noticed on the manifold I believe that's what is called. Where two black hose . Are side by side that uses. Clamps. There's a plug maybe a sender its making a whining noise of some sort.....
