2002 ranger no cold air jumped the compressor that wasn't engaging and added freon for whitch it was low. compressor comes on now for 10 seconds then off again. no cold air not even cool. any thoughts

Where are you that it is hot enough to use the AC? If it is below 60° the air is not going to feel cold.

Vehicle AC usually don't do anything below 60°. But on the vehicle you are talking about, it sounds like it is working, but may need more R134 refrigerant.
