what is one major Thing i should be concerned with about this vehicle

..been told transmission are terrible, and have known two people that have them who needed a transmission replaced, other than every one I've ever known have had their trannies replaced, have no opinion about them~

My 98 AND my 2001 required transmissions to be rebuilt or replaced. And I was OBSESSIVE about flushing and replacing he trans filter. The AX4S transmission is crap while the AX4N is reliable. You will have to look up his to tell the difference on TaurusCarClub.com. I have been out of the Taurus world long enough that I have forgotten how to quickly identify them. I BELIEVE that if the shifter has a BUTTON for disabling overdrive it will always be an AX4N but please verify. There are stampings on the transmission pan as well. Also there is no such thing as one trim level gets one transmission. They mixed them. And FYI a rebuild on the AX4S is $2000.
