I want you to know what was leaking on my 2002 Ford Taurus?

when I start up my car I noticed a puddle of
maroonish oily substance that leaked. Was
wondering if you could help me out to see
what it is. Thanks

Sounds like automatic transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid level after about 10 miles of driving and while the motor is running, car in park and the parking brake on. Check the owner manuel if you have one.

Thanks for the response. But I just got my transmission tuned up by my mechanic and he said he couldn't find a leak. The only fluid I have put into my car lately was brake fluid so that's why I thought that was it.

The color you described could also be power steering fluid. Brake fluid in clear. Are your brakes spungy? If so, have them checked.
