Rpms and speed

Question type: General
My car has a check engine light due to a
crack in the exhaust manifold where the o2
sensor is at. Normally when driving in 5th
gear on the freeway my rpms are at 3000
with 70mph and 4000 rpms at 80mph.
Recently it’s been at 3500 rpms at 80mph.
I’m trying to figure out if that’s normal or if
there’s a problem I should be concerned
with.

Your transmission could be running in a lower gear or maybe the torque converter is not locking up like it should be.
I think you may be mistaken on the engine speed readings before or after. After rereading your post I do not see a problem.
Not possible that the engine speed would go down 500 rpm at the same speed/gear.
Have it your way but you should learn how manual transmission drive trains work.

Obviously I don’t know which is why I posted on here. I’m not pulling shit out of my ass. I know my car and I know what it’s doing. Unless you’re physically here to see it, you can’t tell me shit. That is what happened and if you’re going to be an ignorant asshole stay off peoples posts
