WEELL ... LIKE ON A SMALL/BIG BLOCK CHEVY THE PUMP HAS A ROD WITCH DRIVES/TURNES THE DISTRIBUTOR SO NO....BUT EVEN IF IT COULD **NOT FOR LONG** IT WOULD FRY THE MOTOR WITHOUT A WORKING/TURNING OIL PUMP..

HI.. F O R .....HAD A 69 E-TYPE IM SORRY I GOT RID OF IT.. TRAIDED IT FOR A 70 SS 454 450HP CHEVELLE SS ...BACK IN THE DAY....THE JAGS WIRE SPOKED RIMS GAVE ME A PROBLEM..SINCE THEN I HAVE LEARNED HOW TO TRUE THEM.....

If the oil pump goes out the engine will be ruined due to being starved of lubricating oil. It will happen very quickly in a matter of seconds.
