Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put regular gas in it for the first time the other day. tank almost empty started having
problems starting. Purchased sea foam fuel injection and put in with new tank of medium
grade gas. also had spark plugs replaced. Now I noticed that the AC is surging.

tank almost empty started your problems. sucked pump dry. gunk in tank sucked into filter, (probably an in-tank filter}. sea foam helps clean injectors and remove moisture but doesn't clean gunk out of the tank or filter or pump

When I say almost empty. I meant it had less than a 1/4 tank. so are you saying I need to change the gas filter?

You'll need to get the fuel pressure checked by someone with a pressure gage ( a buddy with a gage will know what to do;otherwise,he wouldn't own a gage) or take it to a shop.

You mentioned this problem began after adding the new gas, is it possible the gas has water or high ethanol content and your engine doesn't like it? Try refueling with what you used before. BTW, you changed the grade to regular? High octane fuel is not needed in the 2.7, it is not a high compression engine.

Actually rainwater can enter the transfer of fuel in many places, and with ethanol blending as well as cheaper grades, well, you get what you pay for. I hope tcbeckish gets that '04 back in smooth running health, I miss my '06, in 8 years, never had a problem, ran w/synthetic oil always.
