Maybe the temp goes up until the thermostat opens then starts going back down. That sounds normal to me. If you say it isn't acting normal, I believe you. Just to name some systems that can have an effect on your temp gage, thermostat--coolant temp sensor--pcm--bcm--instrument cluster not to mention wiring circuits. There could be other issues? Unless you can give me a code or something that points in the right direction, it's like hunting a needle in a haystack.

Well I don't have a code. No check engine light is on. Its going up and down and it's never done that. I did and oil change and bam it started. Its so confusing because there is no code or leaks it's running good its just saying its getting warm it might be a heater core valve. But idk I've tryed it all

Try checking all your vacime hoses. Also check your water pump

No one ever posts what the fix finally was? I am having the same issue, everything was replaced. and still get to 3/4 mark at idle but if you raise the rpms then the temp goes down.
