Lap belts only were optional for your Catalina.
Anchor points should be under the rear seat and
under the front seat on either side of the
transmission hump. You'll need to pull the front seat
fully forward to see them. There were no provisions
for front seat shoulder straps. Children should not
be restrained in the back seat using the lap belt. In a
frontal collision they can be thrown forward in such
a way that spine injury or paralysis can occur. Use a
modern car seat for children. If you put some kind
of shoulder straps in for the front seat outboard
passengers the wearer must be at least 4 ft 11 in
tall. In a frontal collision shorter passengers can
sustain neck injuries or death from a broken neck!
