64 Catalina transmission

Question type: General

I own a 64 Catalina that my dad factory
ordered in August of 63. This car has had a
manual 3 speed for as long as I can
remember. The car has the automatic gear
indicator and column shifter without the
shifting arm. I have the original window
sticker and order form for this car which lists
the manual transmission. I recall my dad
telling me that the car came from the factory
wrong and the dealership made the
transmission swap prior to delivering it. Is
this possible ?

It's very possible. Dealers, even today, will add dealer installed options or remove things for a new vehicle buyer to get the sale. For example my 86 C10 Pick Up had a Dealer installed rear step bumper and power steering that it didn't come from the factory with. So if your Dad bought the car new, I'd believe his story. Hope that helps! Jim
