Water leak

I changed the thermostat that the lower radiator
hose connects to and directly below the
thermostat housing is a hole a machine hole not a
Crack or a brake it is dripping water what the hell is
it for or what is supposed to be there

Is the leak from this hole? This sounds like a water pump, it will have a weep hole machined into it behind the pulley.
