Shifting problems in the steering column

Asked by Cfallot77 Dec 26, 2016 at 03:57 PM about the 1991 Chrysler Le Baron

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put my car in park and
now my shifter on my
steering column just goes
through the reverse
neutral Drive UTC but it
won't engage anything
when you can't even get it
put in the park I already
check the transmission
fluid it's full and it's red
color bright red I was
looking for a broken cable
thinking that the cable
was possibly broken into
sleeve. Also is there a
linkage in the steering
column that could have
broken there's nothing
making any noise like
metal hitting metal but I
didn't know if all vehicles
were built like that with
the linkage in the steering
column

When you open the hood, there should be a link bar from steering column to transmission, check to make sure it's moving when you try to shift and that it's connected to transmission
