are there transmissions really as bad as I have read?

Not really. If you service the transmisson regularly there is no reason why it should not last a long time. The V8 transmissions seem to be better than the V6 in the later models. Also, it depends on where the car was assembled, ones assembled in Kentucky seem to have less problems than the ones built in Mexico.

The really bad transmissions were generally on the ones built before 1994-95 anything after that is a dependable transmission as long as you take care of it as previously stated.

really depends on hoe the vehicle was cared for,serviced regurally,been off roading a lot,if it is a well taken care of vehicle,it should be ok.
