why do my battery light come on 2006 dodge stratus

battery is old....the chassis ground has been corrupted from corrosion thru repeated 300 amp starts and needs to be brushed with a coarse wirebrush....the lug (the end of the 1/0 black cable) and the spot where it connects all cleaned down to the metal and re-assembled...this and a new battery and you won't be late for your apple-jack lesson~

battery light is same as alternator light. it come on when vech. is not charging.
