2005 Dodge Grand Caravan issues

So my 2005 Dodge Grand caravan won't start
unless it's jumped, it stays running until it's turned
off then needs jumped again. But the lights work
when the car isn't on. What could be the issue?

test your alternator. With the car running, you should have about 14.5 volts at the battery. if not then the alternator is likely bad. also, check your battery connections and have the battery load tested.

Take off the battery when the car is on if it turns off then your vehicle charging system is not working you will possibly need to charge the alternator it will be wise to change the battery and the alternator so it won't happen again in the near future.

I had the same problem with my 2006 Chrysler Town and Country van. The problem kept getting increasingly worse with time and repeated power jumpers, Then I found that I just had to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and it would reset the computer. so the battery and the jumpers weren't really the problem. The engine finally got to a point where it would no longer start at all. It turned out to be a computer problem, and there were 3 interlocking computer sections that could be the failure. Needless to say, the cost for those computer replacements, times the gamble of which one was the real bad guy made the disposal of the car a mandatory alternative. I suspect that the procedure that was used for the first roadside jump of the battery MAY have been what initiated the series of internal computer failures.
